Fadaiyan Islam Street in Tehran: 3 Fires in 3 Months

According to the spokesperson of Tehran Fire Department, on Sunday, a 1500 square meter warehouse filled with goods and household items on Fadaiyan Islam Street caught fire. This is the third fire in warehouses on this street in the last three months. Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson of the Fire Department, stated in an interview with ISNA on Sunday, July 28, that "the fire incident in a goods warehouse was reported to the 125 emergency system at 5 AM on Sunday, following which the command center dispatched firefighters from six stations to the incident location on the northbound side of Fadaiyan Islam Street, near Azadegan." Mr. Maleki noted that upon the arrival of firefighters, it was observed that the fire occurred in a roofed warehouse covering more than 1500 square meters, and flames engulfed the entire space. The spokesperson indicated that about 100 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire, stating, "This warehouse was filled with flammable materials such as thread, fabric, sewing machines, and car spare parts, which, along with the improper arrangement of goods, made the firefighters' operation challenging. However, fortunately, after about two hours of strenuous efforts, the firefighters successfully extinguished the fire completely." Mr. Maleki also reported that fortunately, despite the significant damages caused by this incident, there were no injuries or fatalities. According to this fire department official, the cause of the incident is still unknown. This is the third time in the last three months that warehouses on Fadaiyan Islam Street in Tehran have experienced extensive fires. Previously, on May 9, a 10,000 square meter wood warehouse on this street caught fire. The fire department spokesperson had stated that "the mentioned warehouse was a storage place for wood, and the owner had been warned multiple times by the municipality and the Tehran City Council about its unsafe conditions, but unfortunately, no action was taken to secure this building, and it completely burned down." Additionally, on June 22, a 5,000 square meter bicycle warehouse on Fadaiyan Islam Street also caught fire, leading to firefighters from seven stations being dispatched to the site to control the blaze.
