Family Members of Majid Kazemi, Executed in the 'Isfahan House' Case, Arrested After 'Beating'

The sister and two brothers of Majid Kazemi, one of the executed defendants in the 'Isfahan House' case, were arrested after being 'beaten.' Mohammad Hashemi, a close relative of the Kazemi family, confirmed this news in a tweet, stating that last night, security forces attacked Majid Kazemi's home and after 'beating the brothers and parents of this executed young man,' arrested his two brothers, Hossein and Mehdi, who were 'severely injured.' According to the same tweet, after a few hours, their sister Somayeh, who was following up on her brothers' case, was also arrested by security forces. Mizan, a news agency affiliated with the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, announced on Friday, May 29, that Saleh Mirhashemi, Majid Kazemi Sheikh Shabani, and Saeed Yaqoubi Kordsefi, defendants in the 'Isfahan House' case, were executed early on Friday, May 29. These three individuals were accused of killing two Basij members and a police officer, accusations that they and their families had repeatedly denied. The three defendants also stated that they were forced to make televised confessions after enduring severe torture. Following the execution of the defendants in the 'Isfahan House' case, pressures on their families have increased. Saleh Mirhashemi's mother also stated in an audio file on Saturday that government forces handcuffed her husband and did not allow them to hold a ceremony. Videos have also been published showing the presence of government forces around Saeed Yaqoubi's house in recent nights. Protests by Iranians against the execution of Majid Kazemi, Saeed Yaqoubi, and Saleh Mirhashemi took place in Malmo, Sweden. A cousin of Majid Kazemi stated: 'Khamenei! The mockery of the times! From today we will seek justice and you will regret it.' A woman recounted her presence at the grave of Majid Kazemi, one of the executed in the 'Isfahan House' case. Protests occurred at several universities in Iran, where students dressed in 'mourning clothes' protested against the 'murder of three martyrs of freedom.' Opposition to the new wave of executions in Iran has led to protests in Tehran and several cities around the world. The United States condemned the execution of the defendants in the 'Isfahan House' case, stating: 'We share the grief of the families of these three individuals.'
