Family of Tajzadeh Requests Leave from Judiciary Chief After Two Years in Prison

Fakhr al-Sadat Mohtashami Pour, the wife of political prisoner Mostafa Tajzadeh, wrote a letter to Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, requesting leave for this political activist after two years in prison. In her Facebook post, she stated that 'more than two years have passed since his illegal and unjust detention for criticizing the leader.' She asked, 'On behalf of our family, I have a question for you, who presides over the house of justice and is responsible for the implementation of justice throughout our dear Iran, what is the reason for depriving my dear husband and his family of their legal, religious, and human right to leave?' She also noted that Mr. Tajzadeh's mother has been deprived of seeing her son for more than two years, 'his young child has a one-hour monthly visit to see his father, and our older child is deprived of this minimum and also of the blessing of hearing his father's voice due to being away from our dear homeland.' Mohtashami Pour also referred to the 'travel ban' on Mostafa Tajzadeh prior to his arrest, stating that this has deprived him of the opportunity to see his child for years. Mostafa Tajzadeh, a reformist political activist and former Deputy Minister of Interior during the reformist government, has been repeatedly arrested and sentenced to heavy penalties since 2009. He was last sentenced in October 2022 to five years in prison for charges of 'collusion against national security,' 'spreading falsehoods,' and 'propaganda against the regime' and is currently in prison.
