Fars News Agency: The Second-in-Command of Jaish al-Adl Has Been Killed

While some sources inside Iran report the killing of the second-in-command of the group known as 'Jaish al-Adl', this group has also claimed to have captured 18 'foreign' individuals affiliated with the Iranian Quds Force. Fars News Agency reported on Sunday, April 30, citing 'informed sources', that Mohammad Saeed Torkman-Zehi, the spokesman for Jaish al-Adl and the second-in-command of the group, was killed following an attack by an 'unknown group' in Karachi, Pakistan. Fars adds that 'Iranian officials and security authorities' have also confirmed Torkman-Zehi's death. The news agency states that Torkman-Zehi was killed on April 18, and since then, no group has claimed responsibility for his murder, while Jaish al-Adl has remained silent. The Jaish al-Adl news outlet has not mentioned the possible death of the group's spokesman. However, in recent days, several attacks by Jaish al-Adl forces against Iranian border guards and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been reported. In one of these incidents, 8 Iranian border guards were killed in southeastern Iran, for which Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility. The armed group also announced on its news outlet that on the evening of Saturday, April 29, during an ambush operation, they captured several 'foreign forces affiliated with the Quds Force' who were being transferred to one of the IRGC training bases in the Nasratabad region. According to this group, Jaish al-Adl members had a confrontation with IRGC forces attempting to rescue the captives while returning to their base with the prisoners; ultimately, despite some captives escaping, they managed to bring 18 of them back to their base. Jaish al-Adl also stated that two members of the group were injured during this confrontation. However, Iranian officials have yet to confirm or deny this report.
