Fatemeh Sepehri: The Islamic Republic has exploited the 'blood of martyrs' for 45 years

Fatemeh Sepehri, in response to the Supreme Leader's meeting with 'families of martyrs,' stated that the Islamic Republic has exploited the 'blood of martyrs' and committed 'injustice' against their families for 45 years, claiming she has been imprisoned 'to save Iran.' Sepehri, a political prisoner in Mashhad and a signatory of the 14-point statement for the transition from the Islamic Republic and the resignation of Ali Khamenei, expressed in an audio message from Vakilabad prison on Tuesday, July 5, that she wished to shout out loud while Khamenei spoke about martyrs. In the audio file shared by her brother, Asghar Sepehri, she noted that she refrained from shouting to avoid worsening the situation for other prisoners. Sepehri, who is the widow of a victim of the Iran-Iraq war, questioned her imprisonment amid her suffering and health issues, asserting her crime was 'efforts to save Iran.' She criticized the falsehoods in her case, wishing they had noted her attempts to save the country instead of the 'lies and slanders' against her. Sepehri has undergone three surgeries on her left hand, which she had operated on before her arrest in late September 2022. Her brother, Mohammad Hossein Sepehri, also a signatory of the 14-point statement and released from Vakilabad prison a month ago, reported that her health is deteriorating and her treatment has been halted in prison.
