Father and Sister of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh Accused of 'Propaganda Against the Regime'

Khosrow Valikordi, the lawyer for the family of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh, announced that the father and sister of this teenager, who was killed during protests, have been charged with 'propaganda against the regime.' On Tuesday, July 6, Valikordi tweeted that a case has been filed against Ali Adinehzadeh and Marzieh Adinehzadeh, the father and sister of Abolfazl, at the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad. The father, mother, and sister of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh, who were arrested by security forces in Mashhad on June 16, were temporarily released from the prisons of Bojnourd and Shirvan after several days following 'the provision of real estate bail.' At that time, the lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family reported that he had no access to the case file concerning these three individuals and was unaware of the 'charges brought' against them. Khosrow Valikordi, in an interview with the Persian section of Voice of America, mentioned that the arrest of these three individuals has also led to the postponement of their court case against those responsible for the death of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh. Abolfazl Adinehzadeh was killed on October 8, 2022, during nationwide protests when security forces shot him in front of Ferdowsi University in Mashhad. In recent months, families of killed protesters have faced increasing security pressures. So far, several members of bereaved families have been arrested or expelled from their workplaces or universities. Mahmanir Molaei Rad, the mother of Kian Pirfalak, a 9-year-old killed in Izeh, and Fatemeh Heydari, the sister of Javad Heydari, a killed protester in Qazvin, were expelled from their jobs in recent months. Faezah Rahnavard, the sister of Majidreza Rahnavard, a protester executed in Mashhad, has also been expelled from her university. Iranian officials have not provided any reasons for these expulsions. A birthday ceremony for Abolfazl Adinehzadeh was held at the grave of Erfan Khazai, another killed protester. The lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family reported the release of the father, mother, and sister of Abolfazl on bail. The lawyer stated that the father and mother of Abolfazl had been detained and the court was postponed. The arrest of the sister, father, and uncle of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh occurred on the eve of his birthday. There was news of the sister of the martyr Korkor after the government forces attacked their family home. A bail of 2.5 billion tomans was requested for the three members of the Adinehzadeh family. The lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family stated that his clients have been arrested and he has no information about their situation. There is fear of 'young people buried in the ground'; on the eve of the birthday of 'Abolfazl Adinehzadeh,' all of his relatives were arrested. The temporary release of the father, mother, and sister of 'Abolfazl Adinehzadeh' was granted on bail.
