Female Prisoners at Evin Welcome Judicial Officials with Shouts of 'Death to the Islamic Republic'; Narges Mohammadi's Account

Narges Mohammadi's Instagram account, the imprisoned human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, reported that during a visit by several judicial officials of the Islamic Republic to the women's ward of Evin Prison, the officials fled after the reaction of the female prisoners who chanted slogans. According to the text published on this account, this incident occurred during the visit on December 27, when judges from the Revolutionary Court and judicial officials visited Evin Prison. The account emphasized that 'the Revolutionary Court judges and Islamic Republic officials came to the women's ward to take requests from the prisoners but were faced with a people's court held by the female prisoners and fled.' Accordingly, it was announced that during this visit, the female prisoners came to the prison staff corridor to express their protest against the oppression of the people, imprisonment, torture, and executions, chanting slogans such as 'Death to the Dictator', 'Death to the Islamic Republic', and 'Woman, Life, Freedom'. As narrated by Narges Mohammadi's associated account, the female prisoners also repeatedly sang protest songs including 'Blood of the Purple Flowers', 'Balachao', and 'Mahsa's Night'. Reports published in the media indicated that Eman Afshari, head of Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, Mohammad Reza Amouzad, head of Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, Ali Ghanatkar, head of the Security Prosecutor's Office, Al-Qazi Al-Mahr, head of the Tehran Province Judiciary, and several security officials of the Islamic Republic were among those who visited the women's ward at Evin Prison. Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje'i, head of the judiciary, also visited some security wards of Evin Prison on the evening of December 29. Iranian media made no mention of the incidents that occurred during these visits.
