FIFA Scandal, Argo Director, and the Making of a Feature Film

Ben Affleck, the American actor, producer, and director who won an Oscar three years ago for directing the film 'Argo' about the escape of several American diplomats taken hostage at the U.S. embassy in Tehran, is set to address the financial scandal involving the executives of the International Federation of Football, FIFA. Warner Bros. will produce the FIFA scandal film directed by Ben Affleck. Gavin O'Connor, who was nominated for an Oscar in 2011 for the sports drama 'Warrior' starring Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte, will also be involved in this film. The story centers around Chuck Blazer, the former executive vice president of the U.S. Soccer Federation, who is at the center of the FIFA scandal. Blazer, who was a member of FIFA's executive committee from 1996 to 2013, confessed to taking bribes in 2013. According to Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on the book 'Houses of Deceit' written by journalist Ken Bensinger, which explores Chuck Blazer and his pivotal role in the largest financial corruption scandal in sports history. Warner Bros. acquired the adaptation rights to this book after negotiations that lasted eight days. As always, Ben Affleck will benefit from the collaboration of his old friend, Matt Damon, actor/screenwriter/producer, in producing this film. Director Gavin O'Connor recently completed post-production on the drama 'The Accountant' starring Ben Affleck. He also has another film titled 'Jane Got a Gun' in the western genre featuring Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor ready for release. The arrest of seven senior FIFA officials occurred on Wednesday morning, June 6, after the U.S. Department of Justice issued an indictment against five sports media outlets and nine FIFA officials, among whom the seven arrested individuals are included. Sepp Blatter, the president of FIFA, despite winning the federation's election against his Jordanian rival, was forced to resign and step down due to existing pressures on the organization.
