Fifth Day After the Plasco Fire; Bodies of Several Victims Found

The debris removal operation from the collapsed Plasco building has entered its fifth day. Reports indicate that during the night, firefighters and other rescuers found the bodies of four victims of this incident. One hour after midnight on January 24, one of the firefighters discovered the body of the fourth victim of the Plasco fire and collapse. The spokesperson for the Fire Department states that the recently found bodies are of non-firefighters. Rescuers and firefighters are currently searching in the basement of the Plasco building, and since several victims have been found in this location, operations are currently focused there. The official number of fatalities from the Plasco fire now stands at seven, including one firefighter who died in the hospital due to severe burns, two firefighters, and four other citizens whose bodies have been recovered from the rubble. The bodies recovered from the rubble have been sent to the forensic department; Jalal Maleki, the operations spokesperson, mentioned that it has been 'a few days' since the citizens whose bodies were found at midnight and early Monday passed away. Initial reports indicate that the four individuals whose bodies were found were likely from the building's facilities staff. Tehran's emergency services report that they have provided assistance to 195 injured individuals from the Plasco incident, of which 45 have been hospitalized or are receiving treatment, while the rest have been treated on-site. On Monday morning, winds once again increased the volume of smoke in the area, and images indicate a reduction in visibility at the site. The fire in the Plasco building started last Thursday morning, and hours later, while rescuers and firefighters were attempting to extinguish it, the old building suddenly collapsed, trapping several citizens under the rubble. In recent days, many citizens in Tehran and other cities have paid tribute to the firefighters. People have lit candles for the deceased, rescuers, and firefighters at the incident site or in front of fire stations, calling them heroes. Additionally, the death of 16 firefighters in the Plasco incident has been confirmed; '25 people are trapped under the rubble.'
