Fire at Energy Resources Development Organization; Defense Ministry: Plastic Warehouse Caught Fire

Iranian news agencies reported a fire early on Friday, September 22, in a battery manufacturing warehouse belonging to the Energy Resources Development Organization of the Ministry of Defense in northeastern Tehran. In this regard, the public relations office of the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that "one of the plastic warehouses related to the battery manufacturing affiliated with the Energy Resources Development Organization (Tavan) in the vicinity of Nobonyad Square in Tehran caught fire, which was extinguished by firefighters." The state news agency IRNA also reported that the fire at the battery manufacturing warehouse affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in Tehran did not result in any casualties, noting that this warehouse was a storage facility for plastic items related to battery manufacturing. Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson for the Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services, told Mehr News Agency about this fire: "The incident site was a warehouse with an area of about 2000 square meters, parts of which caught fire and flames were spreading to other sections." Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Defense, without mentioning the goods or items present in this warehouse, stated that "the incident did not result in any casualties, and all safety issues are anticipated and under control." In this statement, without mentioning the cause or causes of the fire, it was only stated that the cause of the incident is under investigation by experts. The website of the Energy Resources Development Organization Tavan introduced the company's goal as "precise support for the armed forces in the energy sector and participation in national energy-related projects," which was established in 2011.
