Flooding and Waterlogging in 13 Provinces; One Missing Person in Kalaleh and Rescue Operations in 23 Counties

Recent heavy rainfall in the northern strip of the country has caused flooding and damage, including the "disappearance of one person" and the destruction of some transportation routes. Babak Mahmoudi, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society's Rescue and Relief Organization, claimed that "flood and waterlogging operations" have been ongoing from November 2 to November 8 in "13 provinces of the country," continuing until 6 AM today [local time]. He stated that 23 counties, 49 areas including 40 villages, 8 cities, and one nomadic area from 13 provinces "required rescue assistance." Currently, the intensity of rainfall in the eastern half of Mazandaran, Golestan, and northern North Khorasan is at "orange alert" level, and heavy rains in the southern and western strips of Golestan and eastern Mazandaran have caused "the flooding of streams and the overflow of rivers." On the other hand, based on images shared on social media and reported by the news website "Khabar Online," the overflow of rivers in North Khorasan has led to the closure of the "main road from Bojnourd to Golestan Forest." Meanwhile, Farhad Shibak, the governor of Kalaleh in Golestan province, has also announced the closure of "morning and afternoon shift schools" in this county and told the state news agency "ISNA" that a driver has gone missing after falling into the "Gorgan River." According to this official, the rainfall has caused "water levels to rise" in the county's rivers, closing some rural roads to Kalaleh and "flooding some citizens' homes." Severe flooding in Astara and significant waterlogging of streets and homes has caused extensive damage in Mazandaran province.
