According to Reuters, the White House announced on Wednesday, April 3, that this trip, which was scheduled for this week, has been delayed due to a minor accident resulting in Jake Sullivan's rib injury. Mr. Sullivan was set to discuss with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the ongoing U.S. efforts to advance normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. John Kirby, the White House spokesperson, told reporters that Jake Sullivan is unable to travel to Saudi Arabia due to this injury. He further added that the cause of this minor accident was Jake Sullivan himself, and no one else is at fault, and it was not the result of a 'malicious' act. Mr. Kirby stated that the National Security Advisor is eagerly awaiting rescheduling this trip, but no date was provided. Negotiations regarding the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia were interrupted following the Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israel on November 5, and the subsequent Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, controlled by Hamas. These negotiations have recently resumed. As part of a political normalization agreement, Saudi Arabia is seeking to establish a mutual defense pact with Washington to secure U.S. support for its civilian nuclear program. The U.S. emphasized the necessity of achieving a diplomatic solution regarding the war in Yemen. Blinken, in an interview with a French network, stated that the goal of the United States is to establish a Palestinian state. Herzog urged Saudi Arabia to normalize its relations with Israel; this is a 'clear victory' against Hamas. Anthony Blinken noted that there is an 'extraordinary' opportunity for Israel's integration into the Middle East.
