Following the assassination attempt on an Israeli, Israel warns armed groups

Following the death of an Israeli man in a shooting attack in the West Bank, while the Hamas movement praised the perpetrators of this murder, Israeli leaders warned armed groups about the continuation of such attacks. Dani Gonen, a 25-year-old Israeli, was shot dead on the evening of Friday, June 29, near the Jewish settlement of 'Dolev' in the occupied territories. This Israeli man had gone to the area for a drive. Another Israeli was also injured in the attack, whose injury was reported as 'light'. The Israeli security organization stated that the two tourists were stopped by a Palestinian man who 'had a request from them' while returning to their car after swimming in a spring in the West Bank, but this Palestinian 'shot at them from zero distance'. Israeli media claimed that this attack is related to the anniversary of last year's incident involving the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers. According to reports from Israeli and Palestinian media, the group 'Marwan al-Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisha' from the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the murder of this Israeli man. A Hamas spokesperson described the perpetrators of this murder in a statement as 'pure hands that have remained loyal to the resistance and direct bullets towards the occupiers despite all hardships'. The spokesperson added: 'Israeli crimes should not go unpunished by the resistance.' Marwan al-Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisha abducted and murdered three Jewish teenagers in the West Bank on June 30 last year; the events following this abduction led to a 51-day military operation by the Israeli army in Gaza, resulting in over 2,100 deaths, thousands injured, and extensive destruction. The Israeli army identified and killed Marwan al-Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisha in the West Bank last year. According to the Yedioth Ahronoth website, in the wake of the murder of the Israeli tourist on Friday evening, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated: 'The apparent relative calm is deceptive, and Palestinian armed groups are constantly planning to harm Israelis.' According to Ynet, Reuven Rivlin, the President of Israel, also called on the Palestinian leadership to condemn this murder. At the same time, Laurent Fabius, the French Foreign Minister, has traveled to the Middle East as part of an effort to explore the possibility of resuming Israeli-Palestinian political negotiations. Mr. Fabius began his regional trip on Saturday, June 30, with a meeting with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of Egypt, and other senior officials in Cairo. On Sunday, June 31, the French Foreign Minister will also go to Jerusalem and Ramallah for talks with the Israeli Prime Minister and the leader of the Palestinian Authority. France, with the support of the Arab League and the group of Arab countries in the United Nations, has prepared a draft plan to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
