Former Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon and a Former IRGC Commander Listed Among Missing in 'Mina Incident'

The Iranian Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization has released the names of at least 336 Iranian pilgrims who went missing during the 'Mina Incident.' The list includes the former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, an IRGC general, two reporters from state television, and several members of the 'Leadership Mission.' On Thursday, October 2, during part of the Hajj rituals in 'Mina,' 717 pilgrims of various nationalities were trampled to death. According to the latest reports, 131 Iranian pilgrims were killed and 83 injured, with 336 still missing. According to ISNA news agency, the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization announced on Friday that some of the missing individuals are being treated in a hospital in 'Taif,' and a committee will be dispatched to follow up on their condition. Iranian media reports that several members of the 'Leadership Mission' are also among the missing. Fars News Agency noted that individuals such as 'Ghodsnfar Roknabadi,' former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, 'Ali Asghar Fooladgar,' Middle East affairs expert, 'Mohsen Haji Hosseini Kargar,' an international Quran reciter, 'Hasan Danesh,' the first place winner of the national Quran competition, 'Foad Mashali,' an international Quran reciter, 'Amin Bavi,' an international Quran reciter, 'Seyyed Hamidreza Mirzadeh,' a reporter for the news network, and 'Seyyed Hamidreza Hosseini,' another reporter from the news network, are members of the 'Leadership Mission' who went missing in the 'Mina Incident.' Meanwhile, Rasa News Agency referred to Ali Asghar Fooladgar as 'General Fooladgar and Deputy of Major General Safavi,' who is a senior military advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic. The Leadership Mission is a special organization representing Ali Khamenei in Hajj affairs. In this context, Abbas Araghchi, a senior member of the negotiating team, asked the Iranian people on his Instagram to 'pray for the health of all the missing, including Dr. Roknabadi.' Morteza Roknabadi, the brother of the former ambassador, told the central news unit on Friday: 'Since last night, we have been trying to find out about his condition but have not been able to get any news.' He added: 'My brother's mobile phone has not responded to our repeated calls since the incident.' Morteza Roknabadi denied a report from a Lebanese news agency about his brother's death, stating: 'Currently, there is no confirmed news of his death for us, and we can only say that my brother is among the missing in the Mina incident.' Ghodsnfar Roknabadi was the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon from 2010 to 2014. While Tehran accuses Riyadh of mismanagement in the Mina incident, the Saudi Ministry of Interior states that one of the effective reasons for the incident was that some pilgrims did not heed the instructions and guidance of the officials before the incident. Nevertheless, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that investigations into the causes of the incident are ongoing, and the final death toll will be announced soon. In this regard, Iran summoned the Saudi chargé d'affaires in Tehran again due to the Mina incident, demanding accountability from Saudi Arabia. Protests were held in Tehran against the 'incompetence' of Saudi Arabia. The latest statistics of Iranian victims of the Mina incident show 131 dead and 60 injured.
