Former President George H.W. Bush and His Wife Hospitalized

George H.W. Bush, the former President of the United States, and his wife Barbara were hospitalized on Wednesday. According to Mr. Bush's spokesperson, he is in the intensive care unit while his wife is in preventive care. As reported by the Associated Press, George H.W. Bush, who was the 41st President of the United States, was admitted to a Houston hospital's ICU. Jim McGrath, the Bush family spokesperson, stated that he has been suffering from shortness of breath and respiratory distress, while Mrs. Bush is under care due to fatigue and persistent coughing. A statement released regarding this matter indicated that doctors have prescribed sedatives and special care to keep the former president's airways open, which is why his condition is stable. According to the family spokesperson, the former president went to the hospital on Saturday after experiencing shortness of breath and was admitted to the ICU on Wednesday after initial care. McGrath also mentioned that Mr. Bush, who is 92 years old, is progressing well with his treatment, and doctors are pleased with the treatment results, thus it is expected that he will return home soon. George H.W. Bush, who served as President from 1989 to 1993, also suffers from Parkinson's disease and is unable to walk, which is why he uses a wheelchair. In 2015, he was treated at 'Maine' hospital after falling and breaking a vertebra in his neck, and last month he was hospitalized for a week in Houston due to shortness of breath. Mr. Bush was also hospitalized on Christmas 2012 due to severe coughing related to chronic bronchitis and other issues. Despite losing mobility, the former president celebrated his 90th birthday by skydiving and last summer, just three days after his 92nd birthday, he led a group of forty veterans on a fishing cruise. Mr. Bush's office had previously announced that the former president and his wife Barbara would not attend the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump, the elected President of the United States, due to their advanced age and health conditions. George Herbert Walker Bush, born June 12, 1942, in Milton, Massachusetts, has also served as a Congressman, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and as Vice President under Ronald Reagan. His son, George W. Bush, was elected President in 2000 and served two terms in office.
