Four More Iranian Soldiers Killed in Syria

Reports indicate that four more Iranian soldiers have been killed in Syria, with the funeral for three of them held on Wednesday, November 4, in Kashan. According to the judiciary-affiliated news agency 'Mizan', Mohsen Fanousi was killed in Syria on Tuesday evening. He was part of the engineering group of the 43rd Malayer Brigade. The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) also reported that the funeral for Nasrollah Mohammadi, Ishaq Moradi, and Ghorbanali Ahmadi, who were killed in Syria, took place in Kashan on Wednesday, November 4. The state news agency IRNA did not mention the military units of these three individuals or the time of their deaths, referring to them only as 'defenders of the shrine'. While the bodies of these three Iranians were being buried in Kashan, news of the deaths of other Iranian commanders in Syria was also reported. According to Iranian media, Colonel Izzatollah Soleimani from Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Ali Hosseini Alami, a commander of the Fatemiyoun Brigade, were killed in recent clashes in Syria. Earlier, Western media reported that at least two thousand Iranian forces were participating in new operations around Aleppo alongside the Syrian army and Hezbollah, supported by Russian air power. However, Iran had previously denied the presence of its forces in the conflict, claiming that these forces were in an advisory role. Nonetheless, Hossein Salami, the deputy commander of the IRGC, stated on Monday, November 4, regarding the increase in Iranian casualties in Syria: 'The increase in the number of casualties among the defenders of the shrine is due to the fact that several months ago, when the Syrian regime requested deeper advisory assistance from Iran to help rebuild its army, it naturally required an expansion of training. Our level of presence increased both quantitatively and qualitatively.' With the start of new operations by the Syrian government forces alongside Hezbollah and Iranian forces, several IRGC commanders have been killed in Syria, including Hossein Hamadani, a senior IRGC commander, whose death was reported on October 9 of this year. Meanwhile, as clashes in Syria intensify, multiple reports have emerged about the deaths of several Afghan nationals residing in Iran in these conflicts. Reports indicate that the 'Fatemiyoun Brigade' is composed of Afghan military personnel currently fighting in Syria to defend Bashar al-Assad's regime. In this context, two more IRGC commanders were killed in Syria, bringing the number of Iranian casualties in recent operations against Assad's opponents to '29'.
