Fourth Day of Hunger Strike by Kianoush Cheraghi, Political Prisoner, in Ilam Prison

On Thursday, February 2, the Kurdish news agency "Kurdpa" reported the continuation of Kianoush Cheraghi's hunger strike, a political prisoner from Dehloran and one of the detainees from the revolutionary uprising for women, life, freedom, for the fourth day. According to this human rights media, Cheraghi's hunger strike is in protest against the cancellation of his electronic ankle bracelet, the raid by security forces on his home, his arrest, and the beating he suffered during his transfer to Ilam prison. Kurdpa quoted an informed source stating that Mr. Cheraghi was arrested on February 17 and suffered injuries to his jaw and knee during the arrest, resulting in a broken tooth. According to information obtained by Kurdpa, despite serious injuries, Mr. Cheraghi has been denied medical care in prison, and even after his requests for medical attention, he has received no response. The report further states that following the continuation of his hunger strike for the fourth day, Mr. Cheraghi is under medical supervision in prison. Reports indicate that on February 15 of this year, the Sixth Branch of the Ilam Court of Appeals issued a ruling to revoke Kianoush Cheraghi's electronic ankle bracelet, which he deems "illegal and unjust." He was arrested on April 24 of this year after being summoned to the Dehloran Execution Branch and transferred to Ilam prison to serve his sentence. Previously, in October of last year, he was sentenced by the Second Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Ilam, presided over by Judge Reza Salahdini, to one year in prison for "propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran," taking into account his previous detention. He was also sentenced in November of last year to two years in prison for "spreading falsehoods with the intent to disturb public opinion through computer systems" and required to write 200 pages about the history, will, and research regarding ten victims of the Iran-Iraq war.
