From the 'Safest' Airline in the World to Airbus and Boeing Statistics

A regulatory agency has introduced Qantas Airlines as the safest airline in the world. Meanwhile, statistics for the year 2018 show that Boeing delivered 806 aircraft and Airbus delivered 800 aircraft to their customers. In December 2018, Boeing delivered 238 aircraft, totaling 806 for the entire year, which is considered a success for the company. However, Boeing did not meet its target of delivering 815 aircraft. The value of these deliveries is estimated at $143 billion. One reason for Boeing's inability to meet its delivery target is the delays from General Electric and Rolls-Royce in supplying engines. In 2018, Boeing delivered 580 units of the 737 model, six 747s, 27 767s, 48 777s, and 145 787s. The statistics for the legendary 747, known as the 'Queen of the Skies,' are somewhat concerning as they indicate a sharp decline in demand for this aviation phenomenon. However, the company achieved another success in December 2018 by receiving over two thousand orders for the 777 model, which is considered a success for a wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 777X, touted as the most advanced aircraft in the world, is undergoing final preparations, with the first unit expected to be delivered to Emirates Airlines in 2020. One of the most advanced and complex features of this aircraft is the folding wing section. In 2018, Airbus delivered 800 aircraft to its customers and received orders for 747 more aircraft. Despite falling behind Boeing, Airbus experienced an 11% growth compared to 2017. The Airbus A350-900 ULR is currently the longest-range aircraft in the world. The A350 project began in 2006, and it is the first Airbus aircraft to use carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer instead of the commonly used lightweight aluminum alloys in aircraft construction. In 2018, Airbus delivered only 12 units of the A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world, which is concerning as it indicates a decrease in demand for this class. If this trend continues, the production of this aircraft will become economically unviable. Qantas Airlines has been recognized as the safest airline in the world by AirlineRatings. Founded in 1920, Qantas is Australia's flag carrier and the largest airline in the country, currently the third oldest and active airline in the world after KLM and Avianca. Following Qantas, Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, All Nippon Airways, and American Airlines were introduced as the safest airlines in the world. Among the twenty safest airlines, only the low-cost carrier Jetstar is included. Air France plans to soon cease operations of its subsidiary airline, Joon. This airline has only been operational for a year but has struggled to establish itself among the public and will likely be merged into Air France. The newly established airline, which is a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, operates 13 Airbus A320s and four Airbus A340s. Before Air France suspended flights to Iran, this subsidiary was flying to Iran. The main issue with Joon was that Air France-KLM did not clearly define what differentiated this airline from others in the group.
