Full Text of Donald Trump's Message for Nowruz 1398

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, issued a Nowruz message to the people of Iran on the occasion of Nowruz 1398. The full text of the message is: I send my warmest greetings to those celebrating the ancient festival of Nowruz in the United States and around the world. Nowruz is a special time for many in Western Asia, Central Asia, and especially in Iran, for gratitude and celebration, to come together and reflect on the blessings of the past year while preparing with a renewed sense of optimism for the arrival of spring. Unfortunately, the people of Iran are once again unable to fully share in the joys of this season. This year, like in previous years over the past four decades, they experience the arrival of spring under the heavy pressure of their corrupt and ruthless regime. The people of Iran seek to reclaim their proud history, their rich culture, and their rightful place in the world. They deserve a government that is accountable and treats them with respect and dignity. However, the Iranian regime rejects these principles. As a result, the daily lives of the Iranian people are unfortunately in stark contrast to the concept of Nowruz; Nowruz, which in Persian means 'new day,' carries hope for a day when good triumphs over evil and sorrow gives way to joy. Expressing solidarity with the people of Iran who yearn for a free future filled with opportunity, prosperity, and happiness, the United States continues to condemn the Iranian dictatorship. We pledge to never remain silent in the face of the Iranian people's demands for freedom and will never forget their ongoing struggle for human rights. I also join the people around the world in celebrating Nowruz and pray for the rebirth of freedom in Iran. Freedom and justice will one day prevail over oppression.
