General Kurilla Discusses 'Regional Strategic Conditions' with Israeli Military

General Michael Kurilla, the commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), arrived in Israel on Wednesday to assess the 'regional strategic conditions.' According to a statement from the U.S. military, General Kurilla met with General Herzi Halevi and senior commanders of the Israeli army during this visit, evaluating the strategic conditions in the region and discussing ways to continue countering existing threats in the Middle East. From Monday to Wednesday, the CENTCOM commander also visited the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, meeting with high-ranking military officials in both Arab countries to discuss regional challenges and threats, as well as ways to deepen Washington's relations with Abu Dhabi and Amman. The Islamic Republic's nuclear program, its missile and drone programs, and its destabilizing activities through proxy groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza, and other parts of the Middle East have led to increased convergence among Arab states in the region and Israel in recent years. Following Donald Trump's return to the White House, the United States has once again adopted a 'maximum pressure' policy towards the Iranian government. The resumption of the 'maximum pressure' policy comes after the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which prompted Israel to deliver heavy blows to the Iranian regime's proxy groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, resulting in the deaths of many leaders and senior commanders of these terrorist groups. Israel also targeted the positions of the Iranian government in direct response to attacks on Israel on April 14 and October 2 of this year, causing significant damage to the Islamic Republic's missile and nuclear capabilities. Iraqi forces, with CENTCOM support, killed five ISIS members, and CENTCOM forces killed a senior member of an al-Qaeda-affiliated group in Syria. The CENTCOM commander's visit to Syria aimed to assess recent developments in the country.
