German Foreign Minister: IAEA Should Quickly Investigate Information Provided by Israel

Heiko Maas, the German Foreign Minister, stated on Tuesday, April 30, that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must quickly investigate the information provided by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding Iran's 'secret nuclear program.' Heiko Maas told the German newspaper 'Bild' that the IAEA should gain access to the information provided by Israel as soon as possible and announce any violations of the agreement. The German Foreign Minister added that we cannot allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, and the mechanisms of the nuclear agreement with Iran must work precisely. Heiko Maas also noted that Israel's security is at the center of Germany's foreign policy and that Germany will carefully examine the information provided by Israel. The Israeli Prime Minister stated on Monday evening that his country's intelligence agencies had accessed a secret archive of Iran's nuclear program and brought it to Israel a few weeks ago. Benjamin Netanyahu added that this archive, which is 'real' and contains 'original Iranian documents' weighing half a ton and includes about one hundred thousand pages of documents and 183 CDs, shows that Iran pursued its secret nuclear program named 'Imad' with the aim of producing an atomic bomb and equipping powerful nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles. In this context, Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Secretary, also stated on Tuesday that the documents provided by Israel demonstrate the necessity of preserving the nuclear agreement with Iran, known as the JCPOA. Boris Johnson said that what the Israeli Prime Minister presented on Monday clearly shows the importance of maintaining the JCPOA. Meanwhile, the IAEA announced on Tuesday that Iran had a 'coordinated' nuclear weapons program before 2003, but it has no credible evidence that this program continued after 2009. Meanwhile, Hamid Baidi Nejad, Iran's ambassador to the UK, stated that the IAEA was aware of all the documents claimed and presented by Netanyahu and after ten years of study found no evidence that Iran had activities related to a nuclear weapons program. Hamid Baidi Nejad tweeted that based on this, the IAEA decided to close Iran's nuclear file permanently in 2015. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported on Tuesday that delegations from major intelligence agencies from several Western countries, including France, Germany, and the UK, will arrive in Israel in the coming days to closely examine the documents presented by this country. According to Israeli media, Netanyahu's government has also invited the intelligence agencies of China and Russia to visit these Iranian documents.
