German Foreign Ministry: Trump is Dangerous for the World

The spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry criticized the statements and behavior of Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in the United States, stating that his repeated controversial remarks indicate that the world should be concerned about his potential victory in the elections. According to Reuters, Susan Shelby emphasized on Wednesday, August 10, that Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German Foreign Minister, unlike the Chancellor of Germany who has stated that she does not want to comment on the U.S. elections, is not hesitant to express his views on this matter. She stated that the Foreign Minister believes that attention must be drawn to the dangers posed by Trump. Since the beginning of his campaign, Donald Trump, the American billionaire, has attracted global attention with numerous controversial statements about Mexicans, Muslims, women, and even veterans, to the extent that last week, French President Francois Hollande described his approach to issues as 'extreme' and 'disgusting,' and now the German Foreign Ministry is taking a stance against him. Ms. Shelby pointed out Mr. Steinmeier's positions, stating, 'He is actually not neutral on this issue because he believes that if you follow Trump's words and statements, you will feel that you should be concerned about what could happen to the world.' Frank-Walter Steinmeier belongs to the center-left Social Democratic Party, which has formed a coalition with Angela Merkel's conservative government. Previously, the spokesperson for Ms. Merkel announced that the Chancellor of Germany does not wish to interfere in the U.S. election campaign. However, the potential victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential elections has raised concerns even among Republicans in the U.S., to the extent that on Monday, 50 foreign policy and national security experts from the Republican Party stated that he is unqualified for the presidency.
