German Police Arrest Two Suspects Planning Attack on Major Shopping Center

German police say they have arrested two individuals suspected of planning an attack on one of the largest shopping centers in the country. The detainees are two brothers, aged 28 and 31, who police say are from 'Kosovo.' The arrests come just four days after an attacker drove a truck into a crowd at a Christmas market in western Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring nearly 50. Police investigators say they do not yet know at what stage the 'planned conspiracy' was and are currently investigating the matter. They are also unable to definitively say whether the detainees had any accomplices. The police have sent additional forces to the shopping center in 'Oberhausen' and a nearby Christmas market. The shopping center that the detainees allegedly intended to attack is one of the largest in Germany, with 250 stalls, and is busy and popular during the Christmas season. German police are still pursuing a suspect who fled the truck attack in Berlin. The suspect, a 24-year-old Tunisian, is being sought. The group known as the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Christmas market in Berlin. The recent arrests in Germany coincide with the detention of five suspects in Australia. Australian police announced in January that they had uncovered and thwarted a planned terrorist attack on Christmas Day. According to the country's security forces, the detained suspects intended to attack 'Federation Square, Flinders Station, and St. Paul's Cathedral' in Melbourne. Police stated that the suspects had 'radicalized themselves' but were still influenced by the group known as 'Islamic State.' In this context, a €100,000 reward from the German prosecutor's office is offered for the arrest of 'Anis Amri' as the search for the suspect in the Berlin attack continues across Europe.
