Giant Dinosaurs Existed 'Millions of Years Earlier Than Previously Thought'

Findings from a group of researchers in Argentina indicate that the existence of giant dinosaurs on our planet dates back at least 25 million years earlier than previously believed. The results of this research were published on July 9 in the journal 'Nature Evolution and Ecology' and could have significant implications for studies and research regarding these colossal creatures inhabiting Earth. Researchers have discovered the remains of a dinosaur named 'Ingenia prima' that is 200 million years old. They state that the growth patterns of this dinosaur have been unknown until now, suggesting that the life of these giant animals extends back many years before what was previously thought. The discovered remains indicate that this dinosaur is three times larger than known dinosaurs from the 'Triassic' period, which dates back approximately 199 to 251 million years ago, after which the 'Jurassic' period begins. These periods are part of the so-called Mesozoic Era, during which dinosaurs and extinct marine animals like ammonites lived on Earth. Until now, it was believed that giants developed 180 million years ago, during the Jurassic period. The remains of 'Ingenia prima' were found in San Juan, 1100 kilometers from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. Cecilia Apaldetti, a researcher at the University of San Juan, stated, 'As soon as we found the remains of this dinosaur, we realized we had found something different.' The researcher who was investigating the area managed to find vertebrae from the neck and tail and the leg bones of this dinosaur. Ms. Apaldetti says, 'We have found the first giant among all dinosaurs... it is astonishing.'
