Gohar Eshghi's Message on the Anniversary of Her Son's Death: Sattar Wanted a Free Iran

Gohar Eshghi, the mother of the justice-seeking Sattar Beheshti, has explained how her son was arrested and the news of his death was conveyed to her on the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of his death in police custody. Gohar Eshghi states that Sattar wanted a free Iran, the eradication of poverty, and the happiness of the people. She recounts that an officer in a pink uniform and strong perfume knocked on their door at noon on November 9, 2012, to arrest her son. According to Gohar Eshghi, this government agent, who initially introduced himself as a friend of Sattar Beheshti, pushed into the home of this worker and blogger, injuring Gohar Eshghi's hand, and entered their home with several other officers. Gohar Eshghi says that the officers only allowed her son to wear pants and, without letting Sattar Beheshti zip his pants or wear a belt, or even allowing him to go to the restroom, arrested him with his hands tied and took him away. This justice-seeking mother, residing in Robat Karim, says that the officers told her they were taking Sattar Beheshti to Tehran and would inform her about him. Gohar Eshghi mentions that they informed her family of Sattar Beheshti's death three days later. On the anniversary of her son's death, Gohar Eshghi revealed details about his arrest. Gohar Eshghi and her daughter, Sahar Beheshti, commemorated the death of this worker and blogger by scattering flowers in the street where Sattar Beheshti lived. Sattar Beheshti was arrested by cyber police on November 9, 2012, and died in custody a few days later on November 13, 2012. A group of political prisoners at that time stated in a letter that Sattar Beheshti had been tortured during his detention, and they, who witnessed his 'painful physical and mental condition' closely, expressed their concerns.
