Golrokh Iraei: Elections Dictate the Dictator's Demands to Society to Repeat Claims of People's Participation in Their Destiny

Golrokh Iraei, a political prisoner in Evin prison, wrote in a letter published on her 'X' page on Thursday, referring to the early presidential elections in Iran: 'Elections dictate the dictator's demands to society to repeat claims of people's participation in their destiny.' In her letter, she mentioned the names of several candidates registered for the elections in July, adding: 'We live in an environment where these types of individuals hold government and state positions. We are killed in this horrific atmosphere, and our murderers are not only unpunished but also honored with memorials at the United Nations.' She further wrote: 'One of those who shot at the people was me; we killed. Now, who wants to prosecute us? This is not part of a movie dialogue. Hassan Norouzi, one of the vice presidents of the Judiciary Commission of the Islamic Republic, speaks this way about the victims of the November protests. Now this same person is a presidential candidate. He and other candidates easily shoot at the people, and in the height of injustice, no one can prosecute them.' Golrokh Iraei continued to describe Saeed Jalili as 'a commander under Khamenei's orders and probably his designated candidate for the presidency,' called Mostafa Pourmohammadi 'a figure who, in addition to being part of the death committee, played a significant role in the chain murders,' and referred to Vahid Haqaniyan, another election candidate, as 'Khamenei's main executor and one of the suppressors of the 2009 protests.' This political activist imprisoned in Evin also labeled Alireza Zakani as 'the criminal of the university neighborhood' and an abuser of child laborers and garbage collectors, writing: 'Mehrdad Bazrpash has been promoted instead of being prosecuted for corruption and land grabbing, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who tore through the silent protest march and called the people debris, wants to become president again.' The next election of the Islamic Republic will be held on July 8 to determine the president of the fourteenth government. This election, which many consider 'appointments,' was added to the political calendar of the Islamic Republic following the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. During the five-day registration period for candidates in the fourteenth presidential election, a total of 80 people registered and are now awaiting 'approval or disqualification' from the 'Guardian Council.'
