Hamas Reports 150 Killed in Gaza in the Past 24 Hours

Officials from the Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, reported that 150 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours due to Israeli attacks. According to Reuters, the Israeli army bombed parts of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Areas of Gaza City and a refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip were also bombed by Israeli forces. Eyewitnesses stated that tanks targeted areas around Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, the largest active hospital in southern Gaza. Palestinian doctors in Khan Younis said that the intensity of the clashes has made it difficult for them to access the wounded, prompting them to set up temporary medical service sites for better access to the front lines. A video from the Palestinian Red Crescent showed many displaced families taking shelter in a warehouse-like building at Al-Omran Hospital in Khan Younis, expressing concern over the sound of gunfire. The Palestinian Red Crescent, controlled by Hamas, stated on Tuesday, January 30, that Israeli forces attacked this hospital and threatened the displaced and staff with weapons to leave the hospital. An Israeli army spokesperson denied this claim. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, 26,900 Palestinians have been killed so far during the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Israel has repeatedly stated that Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields and also uses buildings such as hospitals and schools to store military equipment and conduct operations. Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that three of its soldiers were killed in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of Israeli fatalities to 223. The war in Gaza began after Hamas militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, killing at least 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking over 240 hostages. About a hundred hostages were released during a week-long ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Currently, more than 130 hostages remain in Gaza. On the other hand, Hamas announced that it has received a new proposal for a ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages and is currently reviewing it. A senior Hamas official told Reuters that the ceasefire proposal involves three stages: first, the release of civilians taken hostage during the October 7 attack; second, the release of Israeli soldiers by Hamas; and finally, the return of the bodies of hostages who were killed. Hamas states that it will only release the remaining hostages as part of a broader agreement for a permanent end to the war. However, Israel insists that it will not stop the war until Hamas is eradicated. An American official told ABC News that the U.S. response will involve attacks on 'multiple targets'. Negotiations for a ceasefire continue, with mediators involved. The U.S. has asked Qatar to exert more pressure on Hamas for the release of hostages, while Qatar stated that it has limited influence over Hamas. Israel claims to have killed three militants hiding in a hospital in the West Bank.
