Hamideh Zeraei, Imprisoned Protester, Exiled to Rasht

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, following the end of Hamideh Zeraei's prison sentence, her two-year exile to Rasht has been enforced. Many civil and political activists in Iran have faced prison and exile sentences. The Revolutionary Court of Karaj, presided over by Judge Mousa Assef Hosseini, sentenced Hamideh Zeraei to one year in prison, two years of exile to Rasht, a two-year travel ban, and a two-year ban on social media presence for 'propaganda against the regime' in November of this year. This protesting student had previously reported being subjected to insults, threats, and violence by government agents in an audio file from Kachoui Prison in Karaj, which was published by the Dadban legal consultation website, and stated that she would not appear in court before a judge who lacks an understanding of justice. Hamideh Zeraei, who was arrested during nationwide protests and released following a government pardon last February, was again arrested at her home in Karaj on June 8 and transferred to Kachoui Prison. She is one of the 15 political prisoners who went on hunger strike last year in protest against the judicial process in Kachoui Prison. Before her arrest, Hamideh Zeraei recorded a video reporting contact from the IRGC intelligence agents.
