Hamidreza Najafi Summoned for 'Final Defense': The Islamic Republic Does Not Deserve the People

Hamidreza Najafi, a civil activist and entrepreneur from Arak, who has previously been accused of 'spreading falsehoods' and 'propaganda against the regime', states that he has been summoned to the Arak Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office for 'final defense' alongside Mohammad Najafi, a imprisoned lawyer. In a video message published on his Instagram account on Sunday, July 16, Najafi says, 'In recent years, considering the economic situation of the country and the wrong method of governance, I criticized, but not only did it not reach the ears of the officials, but I was accused of 'spreading falsehoods' and 'propaganda against the regime', and a new case has been opened against me with the repeated accusation of 'spreading falsehoods'. According to a notification from Branch 4 of the Arak Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office, which Mr. Najafi published, he and Mohammad Najafi, the lawyer currently in prison, have been summoned for 'final defense'. Emphasizing that 'we do not spread falsehoods' but rather 'depict your performance', Najafi addressed the officials of the Islamic Republic, stating: 'We are concerned about the future of the country. We have only one Iran, and your 44-year record has shown that you have neither deserved the people nor understood how to utilize the opportunities of this land.' This civil activist stressed that the Islamic Republic has entangled Iran in 'super crises' such as 'water issues, aging population, global consensus against the country, destruction of culture and religion, brain drain, lack of foreign investment, and bankruptcy of pension funds', adding: 'We are also in debt! You are the most incompetent government in the history of Iran, and you know well that your end will be the day of the people's awareness.' Najafi pointed out that the officials of the Islamic Republic 'have no understanding of the modern world' and 'have problems with technology, the internet, and freedom', measuring everything with their 'Taliban-like' mindset, saying: 'You have no plans for the future of the Islamic Republic, let alone for the future of Iran.' Mohammad Najafi has been imprisoned several times since 2018 on charges such as 'spreading falsehoods', 'propaganda against the regime', 'insulting the leadership', and 'aiding an adversarial government'.
