Harvey Weinstein Released on One Million Dollar Bail

Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood producer who played a significant role in the emergence of the #MeToo movement, faced charges of "rape" in a New York court on Friday and was conditionally released on a one million dollar bail along with other restrictions. John Ilotzi Orbon, a consultant to the New York District Attorney, stated after the court session: "The accused is someone who has used his position, money, and power to attract women and exploit them." He shook his head and replied, "No." The court case states that he is accused of luring a woman to a hotel room in New York in 2013 and then raping her. The charge of sexual misconduct is related to Lucia Evans, an actress who claims that since 2004, when she saw Weinstein, she was repeatedly forced to perform oral sex for him in his office. More than 75 women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. The New York City prosecutor is also investigating a complaint from Paz de la Huerta, an actress from the series "Boardwalk Empire," who claims Weinstein raped her twice in 2010.
