Hassan Abbasi Apologizes to the Commander of the Army

Hassan Abbasi, the head of a center called 'Center for Doctrinal Studies' in Tehran, apologized in a letter to Major General Ataollah Salehi, the Commander of the Islamic Republic Army, for his recent controversial remarks. According to ILNA, he had previously appeared at the Military Prosecutor's Office before this apology and described the controversial statements about the army as 'a one-minute excerpt from a session of specialized doctrinal studies at the University of Tehran.' In a published statement, Abbasi addressed Barack Obama, the President of the United States, saying: 'You like something like the army; quietly, it should be in the barracks, taking the water of this country away, and they don’t make a sound at all. No position. Nothing.' Following these remarks, Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Republic Army, announced that the legal management of the Ground Forces had prepared a lawsuit against Abbasi, deeming his statements as 'ill-considered remarks' made 'without knowledge and awareness of the duties of organizations and forces.' According to the report, Ramadan Sharif, the head of the Public Relations of the IRGC, also did not endorse Abbasi's remarks and condemned 'any action that weakens the institutions and structures of the sacred Islamic Republic.' Additionally, Mohsen Rezaei, the former commander of the IRGC and Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, considered the insult to the IRGC and the army as a demand from Israel and the United States. Hassan Abbasi is a formal member of the IRGC and holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy.
