Head of Criminal Investigation Department in Iranshahr Killed in Clash with 'Outlaws'

An official from the Law Enforcement Force of Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan province stated on Thursday, April 1, that during a clash between police and armed individuals referred to as 'outlaws', the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of this city was killed. According to Fars News Agency, Colonel Doostali Jalilian, the police commander of Iranshahr, said regarding the armed confrontation in this city: 'At 5:30 PM today, one of the armed outlaws in the area was arrested by the officers of Police Station 14 in Iranshahr, and immediately, with judicial coordination, actions were taken to arrest other armed outlaws.' The police commander clarified that when 'the law enforcement officers were heading to arrest other members of this gang, they engaged in a confrontation,' resulting in the death of Lieutenant Taghizadeh, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Iranshahr. Security officials in some areas of Iran use the term 'outlaw' to describe armed individuals involved in armed robbery and roadblocks. Colonel Doostali Jalilian pointed out that one of the notorious 'outlaws' in the region was killed in this confrontation, stating: 'This outlaw had also murdered a teacher in Iranshahr last year.' According to police officials in Iran, last October, a police patrol vehicle was fired upon by 'outlaws,' resulting in the deaths of a police officer and a teacher. Reports indicated that the teacher, named Parviz Roshanab, was shot while waiting in line at a gas station. Sistan and Baluchestan province has witnessed insecurity in recent years, with numerous clashes between various armed groups and security forces, leading to dozens of deaths and injuries.
