Head of Iran Affairs at European Parliament: The Islamic Republic Exports Terror and Repression

Hanna Neumann, the head of Iran Affairs at the European Parliament, stated in her speech on Thursday, October 25, that every country is engaged in the export of something, and "the Iranian regime exports terror and repression." She emphasized that "agents of the Iranian regime threaten refugees from the moment they arrive in Europe." According to her, agents of the Islamic Republic scare refugees with death threats and carry out bombings in public places, and these events occur on European soil. The head of Iran Affairs at the European Parliament added that the Islamic Republic does not only threaten Iranian citizens but also foreign critics and opponents are at risk from the Iranian regime. Hanna Neumann identified the Jewish community, human rights networks, members of the European Parliament, and herself and her team as among the targets threatened by the Islamic Republic. This European Parliament representative noted that the Islamic Republic seeks to eliminate anyone it cannot suppress outside of Iran and, for this reason, collaborates with criminal organizations and traffics weapons and drugs. Neumann considered these actions as a means for the Islamic Republic to finance terrorist operations outside of Iran. She also identified Turkey, China, and Russia as other repressive countries alongside Iran and stated that by delaying our response to these actions, we give these countries the opportunity to expand their brutal repression.
