Hengaw: A Political Prisoner 'Killed Under Torture' by Islamic Republic Agents

The human rights organization 'Hengaw' reports that a Kurdish political prisoner named Mousa Ismaili was 'killed under torture by the Iranian government's agencies.' According to Hengaw's report, the Urmia Intelligence Department contacted Mousa Ismaili's family on Saturday morning, July 8, without providing any explanation, and informed them that their son had been executed. Following the family's visit to the Urmia Intelligence Department to retrieve Mousa's body, prison officials not only refused to hand over the body but also warned against holding a funeral. The report states that Mousa Ismaili, a 35-year-old from the village of Pasouy in the Piranshahr district, was arrested by the Intelligence Department forces on the evening of Sunday, May 7, and his personal vehicle was also confiscated. Hengaw noted that Ismaili's family was actively seeking information about their son during his detention and believe that he was not even tried, that the charges against him were unspecified, and that he was killed under the torture of security agents. Since his arrest, Mousa Ismaili has had no contact with his family, and their repeated inquiries have been met with silence from officials. According to Hengaw, at least 20 prisoners have been killed in Iranian prisons during the first six months of this year, 13 of whom were Kurdish. The Supreme Court has 'overturned its previous ruling' and accused Sahand Nour Mohammadzadeh of 'moharebeh' (waging war against God). Sahand Nour Mohammadzadeh's father stated, 'Pushing a bucket does not warrant execution.'
