Hengaw: Majid Rezaei Killed in Tehran by 'Direct Gunfire' from Government Agents

The Hengaw human rights organization reported the killing of Majid Rezaei, a 32-year-old from Lorestan residing in Tehran, by 'direct gunfire' from agents of the Islamic Republic's intelligence. According to Hengaw, Majid Rezaei and his friend Iman Hasanvand were shot by Ministry of Intelligence agents at their home on Thursday evening, September 21, resulting in Mr. Rezaei's death and Mr. Hasanvand being severely injured. Hengaw quoted a friend of Majid Rezaei stating that he was 'hit by two bullets in the head while trying to escape and died instantly.' Iman Hasanvand's condition is reported to be 'extremely critical.' The report states that Majid Rezaei's body was handed over to his family on Saturday, September 23, after two days, and he is to be buried on Sunday, September 24. The report did not disclose the reason for the shooting by the Ministry of Intelligence agents, and security agencies have not commented on the matter. Hengaw, citing 'informed sources,' wrote that Majid Rezaei and Iman Hasanvand were friends of Iman Hemmati, who was killed by government agents on June 21 of this year with 'baton strikes and direct shots to the head' in Tehran. During Mr. Hemmati's killing, Majid Rezaei, along with three others; Mashallah Moradian, Ali Amiri, and Babak Kazemi, were injured by direct gunfire from security agents. The Iran Human Rights Organization stated that shooting at the faces and eyes of female protesters was 'systematic and targeted.' The pressure from the Islamic Republic on protesters continues; a teacher who celebrated the birthday of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh was arrested.
