Hezbollah Claims Attack on 'Military Base Deep Inside' Israeli Territory

Hezbollah stated that it targeted one of Israel's military bases in the city of Tiberias, located in the western part of the country, with a drone attack on Wednesday, an event described as the deepest strike into Israeli territory. Since the beginning of the current Gaza war, Hezbollah, which has exchanged fire with Israel daily, had never succeeded in targeting Israel to this extent. The militia group claimed to have hit one of the Israeli Air Force's intelligence systems and managed to strike specific points it had aimed for with its numerous attack drones. The Israeli army has not yet responded to this incident, although reports indicate that air raid sirens were sounded in one of the villages west of Tiberias on Wednesday. Israeli media reported that a drone exploded near one of the main intersections in the area, which, although it did not cause casualties, resulted in damage. According to a report from Israel's state media Kan, officials warned residents of the area about the possibility of another drone attack. This attack occurred a day after Israel killed Hussein Maki, one of Hezbollah's field commanders, in a strike in southern Israel. The Israeli army stated that Hussein Maki had played a role in multiple Hezbollah attacks against Israeli civilians and territory since the start of the Gaza war. In its Wednesday statement, Hezbollah said that this attack was a response to the 'assassinations' carried out by Israel, but did not mention Hussein Maki by name. Over the past seven months, more than 260 Hezbollah members have been killed in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. In April, Hezbollah claimed to have attacked Israeli military bases in the north of Akka city with its drones, which at that time were considered the deepest attacks by Hezbollah into Israel.
