Hezbollah Claims Attack on Mount Hermon in Occupied Golan Heights

Military clashes between Hezbollah and Israel continued on Sunday, with Israeli officials reporting that rocket attacks by the militant group left four injured. Hezbollah claimed to have bombed an Israeli intelligence facility on Mount Hermon using a drone. The Times of Israel reported that on this day, four people were injured in Hezbollah's rocket and missile attacks on northern Israel, with two of the injuries being severe. The report stated that Hezbollah fired approximately 20 rockets at 'Jalil Sofli,' located deep within Israeli territory, resulting in one Israeli man being injured. Netanyahu stated that a ceasefire in Gaza should not prevent the fight against Hamas. Clashes between Hezbollah and Israel have generally been limited to border areas since the beginning of this war, with both sides rarely targeting each other's deep territory. The Times of Israel further noted that Hezbollah claimed to have targeted an Israeli military base west of Tiberias, 30 kilometers from the Lebanese border, with dozens of rockets. The report indicated that air raid sirens were activated in one of the neighborhoods in that area, 35 kilometers from the Lebanese border, marking Hezbollah's deepest attack into Israeli territory in the current conflict. According to the Times of Israel, Hezbollah's rocket and missile attacks on this day also caused fires in several areas of northern Israel. The Israeli Fire and Rescue Service reported that they were extinguishing fires near the industrial town of Kidmat Tzvi, Kfar Zeitim, Lavie, and Hatzorim. Hezbollah also claimed on Sunday that for the first time, one of its drones crossed Israeli defenses in the occupied Golan Heights to target an Israeli intelligence facility on Mount Hermon. Despite having attacked other areas in the occupied Golan Heights before, Hezbollah stated that this was the first time it targeted a military objective at the highest elevation in Israeli-controlled territory. Since the Arab-Israeli war in October 1973, Israel has established strong surveillance, intelligence, and air defense bases on Mount Hermon, overlooking the Syrian capital, monitoring Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and parts of Saudi Arabia. Since the extremist group Hamas launched its attack on Israel on October 7, Hezbollah has engaged in daily exchanges of fire with Israel at the border, but the escalation of hostilities in recent weeks and mutual threats have raised concerns that these clashes could lead to a full-scale war.
