Hezbollah Criticizes U.S. Support for Israel

On Wednesday, October 11, Hezbollah criticized U.S. support for Israel, stating that the deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier group, including the USS Gerald Ford, to the region does not intimidate the people and resistance movements that are ready to confront. The USS Gerald Ford, with 5,000 personnel, is described as the 'latest and most advanced' U.S. aircraft carrier, accompanied by several cruisers and destroyers, to respond to any threats. Hezbollah, which receives military and financial support from the Islamic Republic, issued a statement describing the deployment of the U.S. aircraft carrier to the region as indicative of 'the weakness of the Israeli army' and its need for foreign support. In recent days, coinciding with the deployment of the USS Gerald Ford, Hezbollah threatened that if the U.S. intervenes directly in the Israel-Hamas war, it would attack U.S. positions in the Middle East. This militia group, an ally of Hamas, has supported recent attacks by Hamas on Israel but has not officially joined the war. However, attacks have occurred from Lebanon into northern Israel, prompting a military response from Israel. In this context, the Israeli army reported the firing of anti-tank missiles from Lebanon towards one of its military posts at the border. Hezbollah stated that this attack was in response to shelling of parts of southern Lebanon by Israel on Sunday, October 8, which resulted in the deaths of three Hezbollah militants. U.S. and Israeli officials have warned the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah not to enter the Israel-Hamas war and to refrain from intervening. In its statement, Hezbollah referred to the U.S. as a 'full partner in Zionist aggressions' and responsible for 'massacres, crimes, sieges, destruction of homes, and horrific crimes against innocent civilians.' Nevertheless, the group refrained from any mention of the violent actions of Hamas militants in killing Israeli civilians, including children and women, during the attack on Saturday, October 7. The militia group called on Arab and Muslim countries to condemn U.S. intervention in the region.
