Hezbollah Hands Over 'Imad 4' Underground Missile Facility to Lebanese Army

The militant group Hezbollah delivered an underground missile facility to the Lebanese Army on Wednesday, February 10. This comes as Jerusalem and Beirut agreed to extend the deadline for Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon. This withdrawal is based on a ceasefire that was implemented in late November of last year. The Israeli Times reported, citing Al Arabiya, that the underground facility in southern Lebanon had been emptied of all heavy equipment before being handed over to the Lebanese Army. The facility features large tunnels that trucks can pass through. According to the report, this Saudi media outlet also published images that apparently show Lebanese forces inspecting the complex. Hezbollah, the militia group backed by the Islamic Republic, had previously mentioned this missile facility named 'Imad 4' in a propaganda campaign last September. This was released before Israel began its military operation, which targeted most of the senior leaders of this Iran-backed group, including its long-time leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Israel has stated that to prevent Hezbollah's return to southern Lebanon, it needs to remain beyond the 60-day deadline set in the ceasefire agreement in the area, as the Lebanese Army has not yet deployed in all areas south of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the Israeli border. The White House announced on Sunday, February 7, that the deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli defense forces has been extended to February 30.
