Hezbollah Lebanon After Drone Attacks on Israel: We Have Yet to Avenge Fouad Shukr

Hezbollah Lebanon targeted northern Israel with a series of drone and missile attacks on Tuesday, August 7. A source affiliated with Hezbollah told Reuters that the 'revenge' for the killing of Fouad Shukr, a senior commander of the group, has not yet come. Israel has accepted responsibility for the deadly attack on Fouad Shukr, identifying him as the perpetrator of a recent deadly attack in northern Israel that killed 12 Israeli children. Hezbollah announced that it launched several attack drones at two military bases near the port city of Akka in northern Israel and attacked an Israeli military vehicle elsewhere. The Israeli army also stated that it identified several drones crossing from Lebanon and intercepted one drone. According to this announcement, several civilians were injured in the southern city of Nahariya. Reuters television images show one of the hit locations near a bus station on one of the main roads outside the city. The Israeli army stated that warning sirens sounded around Akka, but it was a false alarm. The statement added that the Israeli Air Force attacked two Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon. Earlier on Tuesday, August 7, four people were killed after an attack on a house in the town of Mayfadun, located 30 kilometers north of the border. Two security sources told Reuters that the deceased were Hezbollah fighters. Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah reached their highest level in recent months after Israel retaliated for the killing of at least 12 of its children and teenagers in a Hezbollah airstrike on Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, by killing Fouad Shukr, a senior commander of Hezbollah and 'right-hand man' of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of this Iran-backed group, in Beirut. A few days later, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau in Tehran, was also killed. Iranian officials attributed this action to Israel, and Ali Khamenei emphasized 'vengeance' for him. Despite threats from the Iranian government and about a week passing since the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Islamic Republic has not yet responded to this action attributed to Israel. Japan has warned its citizens: Do not travel to Israel and leave Lebanon. According to Iraqi and American sources, at least five American personnel were injured when two Katyusha rockets hit the Al-Asad airbase. Israeli army commanders suggested to political officials: Launch a 'preemptive attack' on the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah. Ongoing clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have resulted in two Israeli soldiers being injured and two Hezbollah members killed. Sky News, citing 'Western intelligence sources', reported that the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah plan to attack Israel next Monday and Tuesday. The Israeli Defense Minister stated: 'We will impose a heavy price on our enemies.'
