Hezbollah Lebanon Targets Israeli Military Vehicle Across the Border

The Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah Lebanon announced on Sunday, November 5, that it targeted an Israeli military vehicle across the border with guided missiles, resulting in casualties among its crew. The Israeli army confirmed in a statement the missile launch from Lebanon towards the Yiftah settlement in northern Israel, stating that it targeted the launch site but did not confirm any casualties from the attack. Hezbollah also claimed to have launched several other missiles and destroyed Israeli equipment along the border. According to the Israeli army, the Iron Dome defense system intercepted a drone flying from Lebanon towards Israel. Earlier, Yoav Galant, Israel's Defense Minister, warned Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah and an ally of Hamas, during a visit to northern Israel amid missile and rocket attacks from the group, not to 'make a mistake.' According to the Times of Israel, he stated, 'We are in a defensive position in the north but are attacking with full force in the Gaza Strip; this is our priority.' Galant emphasized, 'We have no desire to enter into a war in the north, but we are prepared for anything.' A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council also noted on Friday, November 3, that 'the United States is not seeking to escalate or expand the conflict between Hamas and Israel and has clearly stated with its partners that Hezbollah and other actors—state or non-state—should not attempt to exploit the ongoing conflicts.' He warned about 'the potential for this conflict to turn into a bloodier war than in 2006 between Israel and Lebanon,' emphasizing that the United States does not want to see this conflict expand into Lebanon and that the potential destruction from war for Lebanon and its people is unimaginable and avoidable. In his speech on Friday, November 3, Hassan Nasrallah warned the U.S. that if Israeli attacks on Gaza do not stop, this conflict could turn into a regional war.
