Hezbollah Representatives Consider Terrorist Labeling of the Group as 'Invalid'

The Hezbollah faction in the Lebanese Parliament described the labeling of the Shiite group as terrorist by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as 'invalid and hostile.' According to Reuters, the Hezbollah faction announced after its weekly meeting on Thursday, March 4, that it holds Saudi Arabia responsible for this decision by the GCC. Hezbollah representatives condemned this decision and stated that Saudi Arabia bears the responsibility for the consequences of this action. Meanwhile, on Friday, March 5, AFP reported that two Tunisian Nobel Peace Prize winners from 2015 condemned the labeling of Hezbollah as a terrorist group. The General Labor Union of Tunisia referred to Hezbollah as 'a symbol of Lebanon's national resistance against Israel.' On one hand, the Tunisian Minister of Interior confirmed Hezbollah's inclusion on the country's blacklist, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that Tunisia does not support this decision. Additionally, a Tunisian lawyers' union, which is a member of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning group, called for the government not to comply with the labeling of Hezbollah as a terrorist group. The Tasnim news agency, close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also reported on Friday that the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq referred to Hezbollah as 'the pride of the Islamic world.' Iran, as the largest supporter of Hezbollah, had previously condemned the labeling of the group as terrorist. It is noteworthy that besides the Arab countries of the GCC, the United States, Canada, France, Australia, the Netherlands, and Israel also consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization. The European Union, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand have also listed Hezbollah's military wing as a terrorist entity.
