Mahmoud Qamati, deputy head of the political council of Hezbollah, has said that statements by Ukraine about its readiness to help Israel and countries in the region confront Iran and resistance groups are “absurd”.
In remarks to RIA Novosti, a Russian state-owned domestic news agency, Qamati said Ukraine’s comments about supporting and training forces in the region, including those of the United States, on how to confront Iran and its allies were unrealistic.
“Ukraine cannot even protect itself or its sovereignty. How can it take part in confronting the resistance or Iran? This is absurd,” he said.
Asked about Hezbollah’s position on Ukraine’s actions and the possibility of Ukrainian specialists being present within the Israeli army, Qamati said he had no information confirming whether such personnel exist.
He added that Hezbollah considers Ukraine an ally of Israel, and Israel an ally of Ukraine.
“As we know, Ukraine is being used by Europe in confronting Russia to contain Russian advances, power and policy in Europe and globally. Therefore, we support Russia in its confrontation with Ukraine,” he said.
