HRANA: Mohammad Hossein Sepehri Remains in Detention Without Clarity

HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, reported on the situation of Mohammad Hossein Sepehri, stating that he remains in detention and without clarity regarding his status. According to HRANA, nearly 150 days have passed since Mr. Sepehri, the brother of political prisoner Fatemeh Sepehri, was arrested. The report cites an informed source indicating that opposition to Mr. Sepehri's temporary release has heightened concerns among his family and close ones. Earlier, on January 20, a family member of Fatemeh Sepehri and Mohammad Hossein Sepehri reported ongoing pressures from officials and interference by the Intelligence Department of Mashhad against these two political prisoners. Asghar Sepehri wrote on his social media account that despite posting bail, the Intelligence Department of Mashhad is preventing Mohammad Hossein Sepehri's release until his court date, keeping this political prisoner 'in limbo in prison for over three months.' Mohammad Hossein Sepehri was arrested on October 6 by the security forces of the Islamic Republic in Mashhad and subsequently transferred to Vakilabad Prison in the city. His case was referred to Branch 903 of the Mashhad Prosecutor's Office in November this year on charges of 'collusion and conspiracy against national security' and 'propaganda against the regime.' The latest status of Fatemeh and Mohammad Hossein Sepehri indicates that the Intelligence Department of Mashhad is obstructing the situation of these two political prisoners. The lawyer of Fatemeh Sepehri stated that his client has developed 'multiple illnesses.' Hossein Sepehri was temporarily released from prison; however, Mohammad Hossein's detention has been extended, and Fatemeh's life remains at risk in prison.
