Hrana: Political prisoner Vahid Sarikhgol continues to be deprived of medical care despite poor health

The news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran reported on Sunday that Vahid Sarikhgol, a political detainee imprisoned in Evin Prison, continues to be deprived of appropriate medical care despite his poor physical condition. A source close to Sarikhgol's family told Hrana: "Vahid continues to suffer from severe headaches and nausea. Nevertheless, he remains deprived of adequate medical attention and access to his specialized medications." This citizen from Kermanshah was arrested on August 9 after appearing at the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office in that city and was transferred to Evin Prison on September 28. His court session regarding the charges against him was held in December. Vahid Sarikhgol was sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison for charges of "insulting sacred beliefs," "colluding and conspiring to commit a crime against national security," "propaganda against the regime," and "encouraging people to engage in conflict and bloodshed." A few days after Sarikhgol's arrest, two informed sources revealed in an interview with the Persian section of Voice of America details about the case being fabricated against six constitutional activists, including Vahid Sarikhgol, by the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC.
