Human Rights Organization Report: At Least 69 Executions in August

The news agency Hrana, affiliated with the Human Rights Activists Organization, reported on Wednesday the continued deterioration of human rights conditions in Iran in August, announcing that at least 69 death sentences were carried out during this month. According to the report published by Hrana, over 75% of executions carried out in Iran are not reported by the government or judicial authorities, which human rights organizations refer to as 'secret executions.' This human rights organization stated that in the past month, the death sentences of five prisoners in the prisons of Qazvin, Kerman, and Kahnuj, one prisoner in Zahedan, three prisoners in Shiraz and Hamadan, two prisoners in Vakilabad prison in Mashhad, two prisoners in Arak prison, one prisoner in Birjand prison, four prisoners in Zahedan prison, two prisoners in Hamadan prison, and one prisoner in Kahnuj prison were executed. According to international organizations, Iran holds the highest rate of citizen executions in the world per capita. Hrana also addressed multiple convictions, summons, widespread violations of prisoners' rights, continuous violations of freedom of expression, workers' protests especially regarding wage arrears, and other incidents that have occurred in various provinces.
