Human Rights Organizations Report Water Cut in Karaj Central Prison

The Harana news agency, the news organ of human rights activists in Iran, announced that prisoners in Karaj Central Prison have been facing repeated water cuts for seven days, threatening their health. On Tuesday, July 2, Harana reported, citing the family of one of these prisoners: "For seven days, water has been repeatedly cut off from 10 AM to 5 PM, and when it is available, it flows in a trickle, affecting the health and hygiene of the prisoners." According to this report, the heat and repeated water cuts have led to the spread of diseases such as tuberculosis and other illnesses in the prison, and the authorities of Karaj Central Prison, despite being aware of this problem and the prisoners' protests, have taken no action to resolve it. Harana stated that the situation of the prisoners in Karaj Prison, which endangers health and fails to meet the basic needs of prisoners, constitutes a repeated violation of domestic and international laws.
