Human Rights Sources: 13 Kurdish Citizens Sentenced to Over 34 Years in Prison

Human rights sources have reported that the Revolutionary Court of Oshnaviyeh has sentenced thirteen Kurdish citizens to a total of more than 34 years and five months in prison. According to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization on Tuesday, December 5, these citizens from Oshnaviyeh and surrounding villages have been accused of 'membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan' and 'collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.' The report states that six of these individuals were arrested in July of this year, and seven others were detained last summer, later being temporarily released from Oshnaviyeh Central Prison on bail. Recently, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported the sentencing of Siwan Ebrahimi, a Kurdish language teacher, to 11 years in prison. The charges against this citizen include 'forming groups and associations with the intent to disrupt national security' and 'propaganda against the regime.'
