Human Rights Sources: Detainees in Prisons Face 'Indecision and Pressure'

Human rights sources have reported ongoing indecision and pressure on several detainees in various cities. According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Abbas (Mojahid) Korkori, imprisoned in Ahvaz prison, has been deprived of phone calls and visits, and Ali Rezaei, a detained protester in Greater Tehran prison, remains in a state of indecision. The report states that Mojahid Korkori, accused of 'moharebeh' (waging war against God) and 'efsad fil-arz' (corruption on earth), has been held in solitary confinement in Shiban prison in Ahvaz since early November and has been deprived of phone calls and family visits. While the Iranian government has accused him of the murder of Kian Pirfalak, a child killed in Izeh, the Pirfalak family has denied this claim, emphasizing that the child was killed by gunfire from government forces. HRANA also reported on the continued detention of Ali Rezaei, a protester arrested during the nationwide protests of 2022. According to the report, Ali Rezaei has been in detention for over eleven months and remains in a state of indecision in Greater Tehran prison. Reza Shafakhah, the lawyer for this detained protester, announced on Thursday, November 23, that his request for the case to be heard in the juvenile court was rejected and referred to the Revolutionary Court. According to HRANA, Morteza Nourmohammadi Nadarli (Nazarlu), a prisoner in the intelligence department detention center in Tabriz, is also still in a state of indecision after seventy days of detention. This citizen, residing in Shabestar County in East Azerbaijan, faces charges such as 'gathering and colluding against national security' and 'membership in a group aiming to act against national security.' On the other hand, the Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Unions has reported the imminent execution of a prison sentence for Atakeh Rajabi, a dismissed teacher. This trade union announced on its Telegram channel that the Mashhad execution court has summoned Atakeh Rajabi for the execution of her prison sentence, and this teacher's activist must present herself to the court on Saturday, December 4. The Khorasan Court of Appeals recently confirmed a six-month prison sentence for Atakeh Rajabi. According to the report from the Coordination Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Unions, she has been sentenced to two months of imprisonment, with four months of her sentence suspended for five years. Human Rights Watch recently criticized the Iranian authorities for increasing repression of dissenters through intimidation, arrests, and prosecution. Concerns from 200 activists continue regarding the ongoing detention of several national, civil, and political activists.
