Humanitarian Aid for Bam Earthquake Victims Has Appeared in the Market

Just hours after the devastating Bam earthquake, many Iranians had unifiedly sent their humanitarian aid to this afflicted city. However, it has now been reported that some of these donations are being sold in shops in Tehran and several other major cities. In recent days, when some Tehran citizens went to the market to buy items such as rice or blankets, they encountered goods that contained cash or letters expressing condolences for the Bam earthquake victims. Abdullah, one of these buyers, said, 'A few days ago, I bought a sack of rice, and when I opened it, I found a letter inside that expressed condolences to the Bam earthquake victims.' Meanwhile, Ali also mentioned, 'My brother, who went to buy a blanket, found several thousand-toman bills when he took it out of its cover, one of which was labeled for the earthquake-stricken compatriots.' According to experts, it appears that a significant portion of the Iranian and foreign humanitarian aid for the Bam earthquake victims will gradually be sold at high prices in small and large markets across the country, similar to what happened during the 13-year-old Manjil and Rudbar earthquake.
